Underwater Treadmill
Water therapy is a great way to improve range of motion, stability, strength and body awareness. The underwater treadmill provides an opportunity for the patient to walk in the water pain free while strengthening the muscles. Our water is heated between 88 and 92 degrees which helps to increase the circulation of the muscles, relax the muscles and improve the flexibility of the joints. There are some patients, most commonly post op back surgeries, that are unable to walk on their own on land, but can walk in the water due to the buoyancy. Since we can choose the height of the water, the patient may be able to walk with the right amount of weight removed. The underwater treadmill is a very safe environment for your pet to exercise with the help of a trained rehab practitioner. If your pet is nervous at all or having difficulty learning how to walk in the underwater treadmill, Renee is right there by your pets side to assure him/her that it is okay.
